Solidarity with Kurdistan - Against repression in Germany, Turkey and Iraq

Flag of Kurdistan with the text 'Germany hinders peace delegation from visiting Kurdistan'.

Currently, a delegation of about 150 international activists is in South Kurdistan / North Iraq to inform themselves about the military aggression by Turkey against the Kurdish regions and to increase international attention for the issue. This internationalist gathering is overshadowed by both repression on the ground (it was reported that 14 of the internationalists already present were deported) and repression by the German state.

German security authorities are shaking hands with the Turkish government and thus suppressing the exchange and the clarification of the crimes committed against Kurds.

On 12th June, about 20 comrades and activists were detained at Düsseldorf airport on their way to Hewlêr (Erbil). Among them were Cansu Özdemir, chairperson of the Left Party in Hamburg, Martin Dolzer, who had been delegated to participate on behalf of Andrej Hunko, member of the German Bundestag, and climate activists from the Ende Gelände alliance.

So far, there is no justification or any explanation. German security authorities are shaking hands with the Turkish government and thus suppressing the exchange and the clarification of the crimes committed against Kurds.

We are in solidarity with our comrades in Kurdistan and Germany!
