Demonstration for Rojava and Kurdistan in Helsinki on 19th July

Kutsukuva mielenosoitukseen Kurdistanin puolesta 19.7. Kuvitusmateriaalia sekä mielenosoituksen nimi, aika ja paikka.

Everyone along to the demonstration in Helsinki on Tuesday 19th July to demand end to the war and to defend Rojava and Kurdistan! Come to Kansalaistori Square, in front of Oodi in Helsinki on 19th July 2022 at 5 pm.

n

n

On the 10th anniversary of Rojava revolution we march to defend Kurdistan and protest all kinds of invasion and war operations in Kurdistan and North-and East Syria.

nn

We demand:n- The Finnish government should not allow any deportations of asylum seekers to Turkey nor extradite any kurdish activists to Turkey. These actions would gravely endanger the peoples’ lives and safety. n- Finland should not allow any weapon permits to Turkey. By releasing an arms trade embargo with Turkey, Finnish state would support the Turkish army to commit another genocide against the Kurds.n- Freedom of speech is not for sale. Banning the Kurdish peoples’ political activities in Finland, would seriously damage the principles of democracy and freedom of speech, that people have fought and lost their lives for.n- A dictator and a liar like Erdogan should not have any influence on political decisions in Finland. Instead Finnish state should demonstrate to be on the side of democratic efforts and movements.

“There must be movements which are ready to take a role as the power of change”

Logo of Communist Youth of Finland.

Communist Youth of Finland greets the 2nd General Assembly of the Communist Youth of Denmark on 8-10 July 2022 and congratulates our Danish comrades for the development in political and organizational work and wishes future success in overcoming challenges and right-wing hegemony. nnThe global situation demands progressive cooperation. As a response to imperialism, militarism and warlike emanation, the world needs peace initiatives, nuclear disarmament, action for people’s well-being and environment, dialogue and diplomacy. Inflation and higher prices drive increasing amounts of people into poverty in our countries and in many other areas. Politicians – both in Denmark and Finland – have the keys to control prices, end poverty and homelessness and support the workers’ fight for better wages by political decisions, but the elite is more interested in stoking militarism and deepening the gap between the working and capitalist classes. There must be movements that keep the elite accountable and which are ready to take a role as the power of change. nnMore people in the Nordics have lost their trust in the system and become frustrated for not having their voices heard, not having real power and possibilities to participate in or affect decision-making. The question is how we can stop apathy and turn it into communist political activism and how we can manage to tell people that a socialist system is the best and only alternative that can provide better living conditions, that has the capability to fulfill the basic needs of the working class by removing the contradiction of work and capital and building an economy that works for the people, not the elite.

n

As an act of promoting the cooperation of civil society and movements, we want to inform and invite you to plan and participate in the international hybrid event ‘No Survival Without Peace’ in Tampere, Finland and on Zoom on 19th & 20th November.

nInternational communist cooperation is necessary for seeking the answers to that, it is necessary for the sharing of experiences in building progressive alliances and growing people’s class-consciousness as well as ultimately clearing the road to revolution and socialism. nnAs an act of promoting the cooperation of civil society and movements, we want to inform and invite you to plan and participate in the international hybrid event ‘No Survival Without Peace’ in Tampere, Finland and on Zoom on 19th & 20th November. “If we want to achieve freedom and peace we must fight”

Logo of Communist Youth of Finland.

A greeting for the anti-imperialist youth symposium on 21st & 22nd May in Berlin and online from Communist Youth of Finland.

Greetings dear comrades!

It is really important to us that this new forum has gathered from all around the world to fight in the struggle against imperialist opression. Communist Youth of Finland greets everyone in the symposium and is waiting to see the next steps and moves of the international community. The fight against imperialism is really important to this day. We can not let imperialism to win over the youth of the world and continue its ruthless exploitation and violence against the people’s of the world. If we want to achieve freedom and peace we must fight back. It’s necessary that the youth does not get poisoned by imperialist thought and that the working people of the world get to know the horrors caused by imperialism in search for even greater profit.

It is time for the working people to know what imperialism is and what it is doing. Imperialism has caused many wars and a lot of unnecessary death, violence and suffering. The war mongering actions of NATO throughout its existence, the war in Ukraine and the embargo on Cuba are great examples of this. I hope that together we can fight against imperialism and oppression of the people’s of the world.

Sincerely,

Niila Isojärvi and Communist Youth of Finland

New international youth symposium strengthens anti-imperialist front

Pieni karttapallo ja Kommunistinuorten haalarimerkkejä.

Youth anti-imperialist symposium bringing together comrades from several countries will be held in Berlin and online on Saturday and Sunday, May 21-22. The purpose of the symposium is to create a new front to intensify the international struggle against imperialism. The Communist Youth of Finland will be represented at the event by the board member Niila Isojärvi, who will participate remotely.

The invitation to the conference says that imperialism is a mandatory, inevitable stage in the history of societies, but not absolute and endless. It is the second and final stage of capitalism. Socialism, a fairer and more livable society, is waiting to be born. Imperialism is in a constant crisis. It will resort to all kinds of pressure and violence to overcome these crises and maintain the order it wants. By increasing racism and fascism, it creates artificial contradictions among the oppressed.

Imperialism deepens as much as possible the pre-existing contradictions of capitalism and begins to manifest itself as a more intense exploitation and impoverishment of the working class. This leads to an exacerbation of class differences and a contradiction between the bourgeoisie and the deprived working class. Contradictions prepare the objective conditions for revolutions by bringing with it a deepening crisis of imperialism and an increase in each country’s own national crisis.

The symposium is divided into four sessions, which will consider and analyze, among other things, the term of terrorism, organization of fronts, the role of young people in struggle and internationalism. Based on the discussions will be planned action. Communist Youth of Finland received an invitation to the symposium via Communist Party of Finland.

Sovereign Cuba is fighting against the condemned embargo

Kuva väkijoukosta kuubalaisia marssimassa Havannassa vappuna 2022.

The embargo on Cuba imposed by the United States, that has lasted for more than 60 years, will not stop the development of Cuban socialism, as the people strongly support the revolution that has brought the people in the control of the country. The embargo still poses significant challenges and difficulties to society. Communist Youth of Finland sees the need to strengthen international solidarity in order to end the imperialist and criminal embargo.

Since 1992, the UN General Assembly has voted in favor of ending the embargo on Cuba. In every vote, the whole world has been on the side of the Cuban people. Last year, only the United States and Israel voted to extend the embargo, with 183 countries opposing it.

A bourgeois change of power in the dreams of the United States

The embargo is a part of the economic war by United States. USA imposed it on Cuba in 1962 to advance its agenda for a change of power in Cuba, the destruction of the revolution, and the replacement of democracy and socialism with pro-USA bourgeois government and capitalism. Sanctions prevent almost all trade between countries and, among other things, restrict tourism and money transactions. In 1996, the embargo was tightened by the so-called Helms-Burton Act, which also prevents companies operating in other countries doing business with the Cuban state or Cubans. During the Trump administration, regulations that had previously been deactive were activated and the embargo was further tightened.

Acquiring many machines, spare parts and medicines through intermediaries will be up to 30-40% more expensive for Cuba than buying them nearby.

Specifically, an embargo prevents and impedes access to supplies or parts for, among other things, society’s services, such as health care. For example, Cuba is not free to buy medicines, instruments or technology with more than 10% of its components from the United States. Acquiring many machines, spare parts and medicines through intermediaries will be up to 30-40% more expensive for Cuba than buying them nearby.

The unilateral economic war fueled by the United States does not only affect matters between the United States and Cuba, but the sanctions are also reflected in the problems of money transactions made from Finland to Cuba – or just by mentioning ‘Cuba’. Many banks have begun asking the sender of the payment for more information or refusing to process the payments. The United States is working to prevent Cuba from gaining currency by imposing new sanctions on the banking sector.

People and the environment come first

Despite the challenges posed by sanctions, Cuban socialism has made significant achievements. Education is free at all levels and system is one of the best in the world, health care is preventive and free, employment rates are high due to the strong role of the public sector, and culture and the arts are valued and participation in cultural life is seen as a right for all. There is also an example to be taken in the rest of the world in the realization of participatory local democracy in Cuba. The realization of the fundamental right to housing is secured by keeping the price level of housing affordable.

It is also imperative to mention that solidarity and communion between people are strong in Cuba – compared to the individualism and disintegration of the working class promoted by capitalism.

Cuba actively participates in co-operation on behalf of the environment, promotes ecological research and considers how to respond to and combat the effects of the climate and environmental crisis, especially in the near areas.

In terms of population, Cuba has the highest number of doctors in the world, at 9 doctors per thousand inhabitants. Indeed, many are aware of Cuba’s concrete solidarity, which also includes sending doctors around the world to where additional hands are needed for health care. This has also happened with the coronavirus pandemic – Cuban doctors have already worked and saved lives in some 40 countries during the pandemic.

Cuban socialism also shows how the environment and nature should be taken into account in society so that the environment is at the forefront of the government’s priorities with the well-being of the people and how environmental impacts are addressed in all decision-making. Cuba actively participates in co-operation on behalf of the environment, promotes ecological research and considers how to respond to and combat the effects of the climate and environmental crisis, especially in the near areas.

As in all societies, Cuba has problems and things to develop. However, the administration is aware of these because the problems have been publicly acknowledged and the administration is in direct dialogue with the people to help overcome the problems and overcome the challenges of the embargo. n

Cuba will not be discouraged

History has taught Cuba not to allow foreign forces or private wealth to influence its affairs. Cuba, of course, does not do things in the same way as the bourgeois states, and therefore the country’s actions and policies do not want to be highlighted in a positive light in the capitalist media. Once again, there is a greater need than ever for voices in favor of solidarity and socialism.

Communist Youth of Finland demands that Finland actively condemns the embargo, does efforts towards the EU and the United States in favor of ending blockade, and co-operates with Cuba.

Let’s say together that the Cuban people must have the full right and opportunity to build and develop their society without imperialist pressure and sabotage from the United States. Cuba is operating around the world, offering its assistance in dealing with and resolving various crises in an exemplary manner and in an unselfishly humane way. Let’s also act in solidarity with the Cuban people!

Communist Youth of Finland demands that Finland actively condemns the embargo, does efforts towards the EU and the United States in favor of ending blockade, and co-operates with Cuba. It is high time to put an end to this absurd embargo, which is hampering the daily lives of many Cubans and the smooth running of services for the benefit of the people.

¡Viva Cuba!

The riots in Sweden

Burning of a Quran by Danish-Swedish far-right politician and lawyer Rasmus Paludan sparked riots by people with immigrant backgrounds in Swedish suburbs over the Easter weekend.

Sweden has treated its citizens with immigrant backgrounds badly for a long, which means that they are the poorest and most oppressed people in Sweden. De facto segregation to suburbs brings people together and encourages fellowship and bravery. Their justified resistance proves this.

Violence and fear created by police have only escalated the situation. The state does not want to respond to the dissatisfaction of the people, except with violence. Sweden doesn’t care for its people.

Suburban riots are an experience of class struggle which we should learn from. To crush imperialism and make a revolution, people need to organize for the hardest forms of class struggle, starting with the poorest in the movement.
